Certificate of Non Impediment

Certificate of non impediment is issued to South African citizens who intend to get married outside the country. The purpose of the certificate is to confirm to foreign authorities that there are no impediments to enter into a marriage by a citizen concerned.

To obtain the certificate the following Documents must be submitted:

1. Request letter confirming the reason for the application and the applicants contact details.
2. Certified copies of applicant's South African documents i.e ID Book, Passport, Birth Certificate.

Fees: Non-refundable fee of AUD 6.00 for each certificate.

Payment must be in Australian Dollars (AUD) made out to the "South African High Commission" by way of Postal Money Order or Bank Cheque.

Personal cheques or credit cards are NOT accepted. Incorrect payment will not be accepted; in case of incorrect payment the cheque or postal money order will be returned to applicant.
