Post: Secretary (Political Section)

The South African High Commission requires the services of a Secretary (Political Section).

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 years schooling.
  • One year Secretarial Diploma / Certificate.
  • Proficiency in business English.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Secretary / Personal Assistant.
  • Previous experience in a Diplomatic Mission and knowledge of South Africa would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in various software programmes (Microsoft Office).
  • Must hold Australian citizenship or be a Permanent Resident in Australia.

Duties include:

  • Provide Secretarial duties and diary management to the Political Section
  • Organising travel and itineraries
  • Assisting with co-ordination of diplomatic and social events.
  • Attend to logistics for functions.
  • Assisting with all administration and clerical functions.
  • Writing and processing of official documentation in English.
  • Assist in the High Commissioner's office when required.

Salary

A minimum salary of AUD 50,953-00 per annum excluding benefits. The starting salary will be calculated according to qualifications and years of relevant experience.

Post: Accountant / Bookkeeper

The South African High Commission invites applications for the above position.

The ideal candidate should have served previously in a similar capacity working on budgeting, expenditure reporting and be familiar with local Australian tax and Superannuation payments.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Assist the Office Manager with the compilation of the annual budget.
  • Assist the Office Manager to manage the financial activities of the High Commission.
  • Manage the preparation of payments.
  • Manage the High Commission's cash flow and compile the request for monthly funds.
  • Compile the monthly expenditure reports and month-end accounts.
  • Maintain the High Commission's cash book system.
  • Process internet banking payments
  • Process Tax, Worker's Compensation and Superannuation payments.

Minimum Requirements:

A relevant three-year post-school qualification PLUS 5 years experience in a middle management accounting and administration capacity. Must be fluent in English. Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power point and Word. Ability to work independently and accurately. Have a good understanding of the Australian Accounting Standards.

Must hold Australian citizenship or be a Permanent Resident of Australia.

Salary: $55,000 - $64,999 + super + medical + free onsite parking
