Starting from 07:00 am until 07:00 pm Eligible voters are only required to provide either their South African identity card/document or a valid temporary identity certificate when voting abroad. The Mission is situated in Canberra, the capital of Australia. In addition to serving as South Africa's resident diplomatic mission to Australia, the Head of Mission in Canberra is now accredited on a non-resident basis to the following countries: Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu, the Marshall Islands and Micronesia. Apart from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, the departments of Trade and Industry and Home Affairs are also represented at the Mission. Honorary Consuls are situated in Melbourne and Perth.
